“As a young adult, yes I was lucky to survive cancer and I thank my lucky stars each and every day, but there was very little if not no help transitioning back into a normal lifestyle. As in, going back to work, financial assistance or advice, child care, socializing, a health care plan going forward, after-care nutrition, etc. So I would like to advocate for more transition care in the treatment centers and hospitals for those of us who have a very full life ahead of us. Cancer is not a death sentence and most survivors lead a very fulfilling life, but we need help. I understand the oncologists are focused on those who are sick, but what about those who aren't sick anymore? We are still on medication, still healing from treatment, and still trying to make sense of what we just went through.”
