Second Annual Celebration of Life Gala & Reception

This year, the event was be held at the Paradise Lounge in Allston, and featured amazing live music by Pesky J. Nixon and Andrea Coller

The silent auction and raffle were also a great success!

First Annual Celebration of Life Gala & Reception
June 2006, Boston, MA

With Larry Lucchino, CEO of the Boston Red Sox, and 5 of our first grant and scholarship recipients in attendance, we hosted our first annual Celebration of Life gala at the State Room in Boston. Everyone enjoyed themselves as they snacked on hors d'oeuvres and bid on the silent auction, and cocktails were served throughout the night. It meant a great deal to us to be able to honor our first recipients and their stories, and we look forward to seeing them and others at future events!

Third annual Open Mic Night
March 2006, Boston, MA

Copperfields was the site for our third annual open mic night, and we were thrilled to have Pesky J. Nixon, Michelle Zeitler, Joy, Nate Altimari, Nora Kerina and Tom Bianchi on the stage! Cathy Kidman kept everyone laughing as the emcee for the evening, and a good time was had by all.

17th annual Mickey Mantles Restaurant Community Service Award dinner and auction
December 2005, New York, NY

For the second year in a row, we hosted the MMCSA in NYC. We honored Ed Kranepool, Cal Ramsey and Howard Rubin for their outstanding community service and raised over $110,000 for The SAMFund grants and scholarships program! Budd Mishkin, sports anchor and "One on One" Reporter, kept everyone entertained as our celebrity auctioneer. We were incredibly lucky to have Marty Bienstock as the event chair for the second year in a row, and are grateful to him for helping to make the night such a success.

Stand-up comedy night at the New York Improv
November 2004, New York, NY

Have you ever laughed so hard your stomach hurt the next day? That was the experience of all who attended our first comedy benefit show at New York Improv... Dean Edwards, Cory Kahaney, Marina Franklin, Al Lubel and Dan Naturman gave up their Thursday night plans to raise money for The SAMFund, and we are especially thankful for the hard work of Jason and Evan Steinberg of Steinberg Talent who made the event possible.

16th annual Mickey Mantles Restaurant Community Service Award dinner and auction
December 2004, New York, NY

The SAMFund hosted the Mickey Mantle's Restaurant Community Service Award in New York City, our first major fundraising event. We honored two phenomenal athletes and outstanding community supporters: New York Giants All-Pro Defensive End, Michael Strahan, and Wimbledon Doubles Champion, Corina Morariu, who is also a young adult cancer survivor. The evening was a huge success and raised more than $126,000! The event was chaired by Marty Bienstock, New York City Marshal. Also in attendance were designer Kenneth Cole and legendary sportscaster Spencer Ross, our auctioneer for the night. Special thanks to Karen Rosenberg and LaShawn Smith at Empire Events Group for coordinating such an exciting and successful event!

First annual Open Mic Night

Our very first event... an open mic night with some of our favorite musicians and enough friends and family to pack the house! We were thrilled to have headliner Christine Baze, NYC singer/songwriter Kenli Mattus, Hyannis Sound and so many talented musicians and friends share such a special night with us. Thanks to Elephant and Castle for providing the venue and to everyone who helped celebrate the start of The SAMFund!!
