Warm Welcome to our New Sambassadors!

Posted on Posted in Uncategorized

Here at The Samfund we are extremely lucky to have a team of dedicated volunteers: our Sambassadors! Sambassadors spread our mission and help raise funds for our programs through event planning, Team Samfund, community outreach, peer-to-peer fundraising, and more. We started our Sambassador group just a couple of years ago and are amazed how quickly it has grown, now boasting an amazing 39 members. We are excited to announce the addition of 16 new Sambassadors this winter and share with you some of their reasons for joining The Sambassador Family. We can’t wait to have so many of these individuals in the same room at our first annual Sambassador retreat in April. We wouldn’t be able to accomplish all that we do without their dedication!

jacobi“Since surviving Stage 4 Nasopharyngeal Cancer I have become more empowered to use my talent, skills and network to help spread awareness, increase resources, and be a leader for young cancer survivors everywhere. It’s a privilege to work with and be amongst some of the most resilient and dynamic young professionals, who all share gratitude for The Samfund, and it’s mission. I am proud to be a Sambassador!” – Jahcobie

erin“I wanted to become a Sambassador not only because I love everything the organization does, but because my fight against cancer didn’t truly start until treatments and surgeries were over. I know that seems odd because going to chemo can be a fight, however for me the financial burden of cancer was the true fight. Having large amounts of debt can be so depressing and soul-sucking. I wanted to be part of something that would help show other survivors they’re not alone and yes, eventually even the weight of debt can be lifted.” – Erin

lauren“As a previous grant recipient, I have not only been blessed with financial assistance from the Samfund but also by the continuous support and encouragement from everyone that is involved with this organization. This is more than just a non-profit, it’s a family that opens its arms to young adult cancer survivors and helps them rebuild the foundation of their lives and move beyond cancer. Since receiving my grants from the Samfund seven years ago, I have achieved not one, but ALL of my goals that I set out to achieve. I couldn’t have done it without the Samfund and now I want to pay it forward and help the Samfund enable other young adult survivors to achieve their goals.” – Laura

kari“I was a recipient of a Samfund grant that helped me survive the process of cancer– and paying for cancer. I decided to become a Sambassador because giving back and helping others move forward is my way of showing gratitude.” – Kari
