You’ve heard of Black Friday and Cyber Monday, but have you heard of #GivingTuesday? Maybe you’ve seen the hashtag pop up on your newsfeed. So what exactly is #GivingTuesday? And why should you participate?
#GivingTuesday is a global day dedicated to giving back. We have a day dedicated to giving thanks and even one for getting deals, and now we have #GivingTuesday, a day when charities, businesses, families, students, and community centers come together with one common purpose: to help others and celebrate generosity.
The greater concept behind the hashtag #GivingTuesday is simple. It harnesses the power of social media to encourage and amplify acts of giving and kindness. It unites all people to bring about change in their communities, and highlights our capacity to care for others.
This year #GivingTuesday is taking place on December 1st, and The Samfund is participating for the very first time! As we continue to grow and move forward, taking part in this global initiative is a great way to encourage more people to be involved. A bigger Samfund family means more survivors moving forward with their lives every day.
On #GivingTuesday we hope to raise $10,000 to make 10 rent or mortgage payments for survivors this spring, but we can’t do it without your help! The holiday season is approaching, and as a kickoff to our “Giving Forward, Moving Back” year-end campaign, we encourage all of you to help spread the word. Let’s give back on #GivingTuesday and help survivors move forward.
Keep an eye out for updates and ways to get involved on #GivingTuesday. We hope you’ll join the movement!
